Dear colleagues and friends, Hope you are doing well there! Please join me in welcoming a new member to the SSYCDS listserv, Guanrui Gong. Below please find Guanrui's self introduction. Welcome to our community! My name is Guanrui, and I am a first-year PhD student at the Dept. of Asian Languages and Cultures at UCLA, working with the wonderful Prof. Huijun Mai. I graduated with a BA from Boston College and an MA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I am interested in exploring the negotiations between humans and the environment in medieval Chinese literature, particularly the Song period. Currently, a few of my projects include water management commemoration/propaganda and food refuse and human/animal waste.
