*The message below is sent on behalf of Prof. Cheung Hiu Yu.* The Department of History at The Chinese University of Hong Kong invites applications for a full-time, substantiation-track post at the rank of assistant professor in the field Medieval Chinese history (focus on Silk Road and Sui-Tang period), beginning August 1, 2026. We welcome candidates with specialisations in cultural, socio-political, and intellectual histories of the period from the sixth to the tenth centuries. Experience of teaching is desirable but not necessary. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to both research and teaching. In addition to teaching survey courses on Medieval Chinese history, such as the History of Tang China, applicants should be capable to teach advanced courses in line with the candidate’s interests and the Department’s needs. The normal teaching load is two courses per term, reduced to one course in the first term of employment.
