Dear colleagues and friends,
Hope you've been well. I'm sharing the new book announcement on behalf of
Professor Charles Hartman. Congratulations, Charles!

Sincerely,
Ya Zuo
Secretary, Society for Song, Yuan, and Conquest Dynasties Studies

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the publication of my book, *Structures of
Governance in Song Dynasty China, 960-1279 CE *(Cambridge, 2023). The
Cambridge website contains the table of contents and additional details:

https://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/history/east-asian-history/structures-governance-song-dynasty-china-9601279-ce?format=HB

This volume continues my earlier work, The Making of Song Dynasty History:
Sources and Narratives
, which appeared in 2021, also at Cambridge. This
earlier volume is now available in paperback at a (more or less) reasonable
price*. Structures of Governance* will also be available in paperback in a
year or so.

A Chinese translation of *The Making of Song Dynasty History *by Professor
Liu Yunjun刘云军 of Hebei University is now complete and will soon appear at
中国科学文献出版社. I am also pleased that 三联书店has contracted with Professor Liu for
his translation of Structures of Governance. Within several years,
therefore, both volumes should be available in excellent and reliable
Chinese translations.

Finally, for those of you attending The Third Middle Period China
Humanities Conference at Yale in June, a roundtable discussion of Structures
of Governance
is planned for the agenda.

I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Take care,

Charles Hartman
