Dear colleagues and friends of the SSYCDS,

Hope you’ve been doing well! This year the SSYCDS continues the tradition
to hold our annual meeting in conjunction with the AAS. The meeting will
take place on Saturday March 16 at 12:15-1:45 PM in the Seneca room at the
Grand Sheraton. 2024 marks a transition for the Society. As our president
Ari and journal editor Doug prepare to pass the torch to their successors,
let’s gather around and give them a roaring round of applause!

As usual, you’ll get a preview of the latest issue of the Journal of Song
Yuan Studies
and hear colleagues sharing their recent research activities.
Most important, please stop by hungry. Come on down with an appetite as big
as your intellectual ambition. We’ll provide a full hot lunch buffet. It’s
our goal to turn the SSYCDS meeting into the lunchtime paradise of the AAS,
leaving the competition’s sandwiches and chips in the dust.

Finally, the Society has chosen to sponsor two fantastic panels this year.
Check them out if you are interested—

“Religion, Literati Culture, and Technocratic Capacity in the Song State
(960–1279),” organized by Wanmeng Li and Jiangnan Li

“Distance, Dispute, and Distaste: New Perspectives on the Formation and
Dissolution of Social Relationships in Middle Period China,” organized by
Yung-chang Tung

Hope to see many of you in Seattle!
