Dear Members of the Society for Song, Yuan, and Conquest Dynasties Studies,

We would like to announce this year’s election for three new members of
the Board for the SSYCDS. Two of the three positions are in the senior
category: tenured faculty, and senior librarians and museum curators; the
latter group is roughly defined as those whose first full-time appointment
predates 2019—please self-identify. The third position is in the early
career category: assistant professors, non-tenure-track faculty,
postdoctoral researchers, and junior librarians and curators (2019 or
later—please self-identify).

According to our bylaws, only members in good standing are eligible to
stand as candidates. Those interested in running are thus encouraged to
ensure their membership is renewed or completed before the finalization of
the slate. Prospective candidates should also note that the role entails an
expectation of attendance at the society’s annual meeting at the AAS in
North America.

You may nominate yourself or another member of the society for these
positions. The deadline for nominations is May 23, PST 5:00 pm. Please
send your nominations to Yiwen Li *yiwenli@cityu.edu.hk
yiwenli@cityu.edu.hk
.  *

Candidates should provide a very brief statement (two to three sentences)
describing their work and interests, and—if possible—the URL to a website
that includes information on their professional experience and interests.
These materials will be used on the ballot website when the election opens
in June. Please indicate which category the candidate belongs to (senior or
early career) so that we can list the correct category on the election
slate. If you are nominating someone else, please communicate with that
person first and ask them to submit their self-description.

As we did with the last election (held in 2024), we will use Election
Runner. You will soon receive a prompt from Election Runner asking you to
participate in the vote. The website will be open for two weeks, from* June
6, PST 8:00 am* through *June 20, PST 5:00 pm. *

We are very grateful to candidates who agree to stand for election to those
positions. You will also have the option to write in a candidate of your
choice, but please keep in mind that only members in good standing are
eligible for a seat on the board of directors. Brief descriptions of the
candidates will appear on the ballot website.

For information on the current members of the board, please refer to the
SSYCDS website using the URL:  https://www.songyuan.org/about.html
https://www.songyuan.org/about.html

We hope this process will be as easy and smooth as in the last election.

Sincerely,

Yiwen Li
